About Lumewerk
Origin of the Hernnhuter Stern
The stars we offer at Lumewerk are inspired by a German Christmas tradition and are known as Moravian Stars, or Herrnhuter Sterne. The distinctive 26-point design originated in the 19th century in the town of Herrnhut, where the crafting of these intricate stars was used to teach children geometry. Today, these illuminated stars are a beloved Christmas decoration throughout Germany, glowing in windows, streets, and markets in a variety of colours and sizes.
Our Star Lights
We’ve brought this tradition to Australia with bright, modern, and customisable stars. Designed for easy assembly and compact storage, they can be enjoyed as a festive Christmas decoration or displayed year-round as a unique lighting feature.
Lume & Werk
Our name combines “Lume,” inspired by light, and “Werk,” the German word for work or craft.
